Island Garden at Long Key Nature Center in Davie Florida is an architectural artwork designed by artist Lorna Jordan. It was installed in 2009 and is about 120 feet long and 88 feeet wide.
“This gathering place has spiraling forms that rise up from water and the surrounding landscape. It includes a pavilion, water elements, plantings, and rustic terrazzo benches and paving. As people spiral through the artwork, a sequence of intermittent vertical screens provides a sense of enclosure. Openings between screens frame views of the surrounding landscape—groves of live oaks, an island teaming with wildlife, and water bodies reminiscent of the original everglades.” (Source: Broward.org)
